MINISTRY! I’m sure y’all are wondering what ministry is like now that I’m finally on foreign soil. Our squad is split up into three different teams, one guys team and two girls teams! Each team works with different ministry hosts, doing all different kinds of ministry.

My team is working with One Way Community in a town here called San Lorenzo. A lot of the community works in a garbage dump that is an hour walk away or in the Black River nearby, taking sand out of it to sell. Both jobs are extremely unhealthy and pay little. Since the children aren’t in school due to the pandemic, a lot of them work to provide for their families.

One Way has been working in San Lorenzo for about 4 years and they’ve been able to build relationships with the families of the community. Monday-Friday, they tutor the children in art, math, english, etc. They have soccer practice in the afternoon. They also teach them to dream bigger dreams for their future. A lot of them are just living day by day and not thinking about what they could do when they’re older. One Way helps teach them that they can do big things in their lives.

Due to covid, they have not been able to start up tutoring the children all together in a large group again. They have 500 Children from the community registered to start tutoring soon! They use the local soccer field as a classroom.

Since they haven’t been able to start classes yet, most of our ministry has been home visits, delivering food bags, soccer ministry in the afternoons, praying over the families, and a few other things!

This past week we have started to tutor the children in their own homes or in an open area outside of their house. It has been really cool to be able to start getting to know the children of San Lorenzo and their families. They are so kind and respectful. They are fast learners and diligent in their studies.

One Way has a huge vision for what they want to do in Guatemala and already the Lord has made many miracles happen for them and through them. I have loved getting to work with them and getting to know them more. If you’d like to see their website or donate to them, here is the link!

Thanks for reading as always!

  1. Last night I heard on the news here in the states that government officials were arguing about getting schools back open since Covid. Today I read about you and the team there on the ground in Guatemala ready to tutor at a moments notice and able to love people even through the Covid crisis. The United States has a lot to learn from places like Guatamala and people like you!

  2. Love this so much Hannah! It’s so cool hearing what God is doing in your heart and in the families lives there. I’m praying for you, love you girl.

  3. Thanks for the ministry update! It’s really cool that you have the opportunity to do ministry in Guatemala.

  4. I think it is so amazing what your doing. I love reading your updates and I pray safe travels for you all. God bless y’all.

  5. What an awesome way to be an extension of God’s arms of love! Grow in compassion and desire to share God with those you come in contact with. Thanks for sharing!
